Dr. Harry Karamitsos is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist with deep expertise in advanced laparoscopic and robotic gynecologic surgery — complex, minimally invasive procedures that dramatically reduce recovery time for his patients.
Dr. Karamitsos earned his undergraduate degree in biochemistry at The City College of New York, where he was a member of the scientific research society Sigma Xi and received numerous recognitions, including the College Research Scholars Award, the American Institute of Chemists Award, a Regent Scholarship, and Dean's List distinction.
He received his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla.
Dr. Karamitsos completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology through the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center, Einstein's primary teaching hospital in the Bronx. During his training, he received an award for Special Excellence in Endoscopic Procedures and became a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists — an early marker of the surgical specialty that would define his career.
Dr. Karamitsos currently serves as Director of Ambulatory Care for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Lenox Hill Hospital, where he oversees outpatient gynecologic care for one of Manhattan's leading academic medical centers.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Karamitsos is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. In June 2013, he was honored with the Attending of the Year award while serving as the Attending Physician at Advanced Care Physicians.
